Updated HeightsPark.com

Heights ParkHello,

We’ve just put together a refreshed heightspark.com website. As an experiment, I’m trying out integrating the Facebook commenting system directly into the site, with each post connected to our Facebook page. I’m not really sure if we’ll keep it for good, but I’d like to see how it works and see what y’all think about it.

If you have feedback on this feature and would rather not comment here, just get in touch with us via our Contact Page.

September 2014 Announcements

September Yard of the Month: Jeanie and Sid Erwin, 503 RidgedaleSeptember Yard of the Month: Jeanie and Sid Erwin, 503 Ridgedale

Comments from the homeowners:

Thanks so much to the Heights Park Neighborhood Association!! While I previously read about the yard of the month and was going to make a go for the honor, it was completely unexpected!

We lived in Richardson previously for 12 years when my boys were in school, great schools by the way! We bought this house two years ago so that my husband Sid would be close to his barber shop in Richardson Heights shopping center, he’d been driving 70 miles per day.

The previous homeowner did quite a bit in the way of landscaping, but the grass was dead when we moved in. We added a sprinkler system, all drip in the beds to conserve water and we planted zoysia grass which grows best in the shade and takes less water. We’re in the process of adding five rain barrels to conserve water further. I’ve never had so much shade, so it’s been a challenge finding plants that will thrive in it, it’s a work in progress. I love working in the yard and get a lot of satisfaction in the results.

Thanks again, we so appreciation the recognition.

Jeanie and Sid Erwin

nominations due September 19th

Because no one knows a neighborhood better than its residents, the City asks for assistance in identifying properties that may be Community Revitalization Award candidates. Nominations may be submitted by anyone, including the property owner, at any time throughout the year. The nomination deadline for the 2014 Awards is September 19, 2014. Nominations received after that date will be held for future consideration.

The award was created to recognize property owners who have enhanced the community by making significant exterior improvements to their properties, which have, in turn, had a positive impact on the surrounding area.

Residential and non-residential recipients are recognized by the City Council with a reception and award presentation ceremony held in January of each year.

When submitting a nomination, the following information should be provided:
The property address;
A brief description of the exterior improvements that have been made;
Any additional information you can provide, such as the property owner’s name and contact information;
Contact information for the person making the nomination (not mandatory);
Before and after photos (digital or prints), if available. While extremely helpful, photos are not required.
A nomination may be submitted by visiting the City of Richardson website: http://www.cor.net/index.aspx?page=1829, submitting by phone, fax, e-mail, regular mail, or in person. To request additional information or to submit nominations personally, contact:
